The book had a cuneiform 2) 2) 3500 B.C.- Egyptians had developed more complex form of writing with pictures called hieroglyphs. The books were written on the papyrus. Papyrus became the major industry for the Egyptians and they began to export it. Greece was a West customer of papyrus. 3) 3) The Greeks began to make scrolls out of the papyrus, they were easy to carry. Scrolls made it easier for scholars and teachers to learn at that time. The Greeks also invented the alphabet of 24 symbols called letters. 4) 4) 146 B.C. Roman Empire conquered Greece. At this time the books were wooden and tied together. This book became known as “the codex”- bound book. 5) 5) After the invention of wooden books appeared books made of parchment. They had many advantages because it was possible to write at the both sides of the paper, to paint on it. It was the first version of the modern book

There were special rooms for it, they were called “scriptoria”. 8) 1100 – monks began to make illuminated colorful manuscripts, however the demand for the books was growing and it was a need to invent some quick way of writing books. 9) the invention of printing press by J.Guttenberg in Germany. Many copies could be printed at the same time. 10) 1500 – books become affordable and available for people 11) the first paper books were published 12) E-book is the modern type of book which has an access to the Internet and download any kind of information you need
