OBESITY OR NOT??? OBESITY IN OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

ODDS  Chances of a child being struck by lightening: 1 out of 1,000,000  Chances of a child being in a car accident: 4 out of 100  Chances of a child graduating from college: 30 out of 100  Chances of a child becoming fat: 33 out of 100  Chances of a child becoming a fat adult: 80 out of 100

 doubled in children from the ages of 2-5  young adults between the ages of 12 and 19  Oddly enough children between the ages of numbers have tripled  9 million children over the age of six are obese!!!

**OBESITY**  increase body weight due to excessive accumulation of body fat  “the natural energy reserve of humans or mammals, which is stored in fat tissue, is expanded far beyond usual levels to the point where it impairs health.”

GENETICS NUTRITION PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FAMILY ARE MAJOR FACTORS

1 PARENT IS OBESE 50% CHANCE THAT THE CHILD WILL BE OBESE

BOTH PARENTS ARE OBESE 80% CHANCE OF A CHILD BEING OBESE

Lawmakers have even tried to impose a new tax rule called a “TWINKIE TAX”
