Presentation transcript:

Agony in the Garden To describe Jesus’ agony and arrest in the garden To explain how Jesus was tempted To reflect on how Jesus agony can help us face suffering Meditation As you listen to the first part of the story, imagine being there yourself. Notice anything you can see/ hear/ touch/ smell.

Not my will but your will be done ! Tell your partner what you remember from hearing the story. Write up 6 bullet points of details of what happens. **What was Jesus tempted to do, so that he had to pray “not my will but your will be done”? night. Jesus praying Pain, sweating blood angel strengthens him Prays for help to accept God’s will “Not my will, but your will be done!” disciples sleeping My betrayer is on his way.

What happened next? Watch the video and find out. 1. Describe in your book what happened next. **How could you apply in today’s world Jesus’ saying “Those who live by the sword will die by the sword”?

Facing Suffering I remember the time I was wrongly accused with no one to help me. There are no easy answers to why bad things happen, and we must suffer. Christians believe that evil and suffering are still part of God’s plan, even if we can’t understand how God could let it happen. I remember the time my pet died I remember the night when my parents split up. Think of a time when you felt suffering in some way. Write it as a speech bubble. How would knowing about what happened to Jesus, help you? he knows what pain is like, he stayed with it without running away, God sent an angel to help him Accepted the situation and found peace ** Think of how you could be tempted to escape the suffering, and not to face it. Explain why this would be bad. I remember when I lost or broke something that mattered to me I remember when I needed someone to talk to, but there was no one
