INTRODUCTION Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP ) is an integrated computer-based system used to manage internal and external resources, including tangible assets, financial resources, materials, and human resources. Its purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders. Built on a centralized database and normally utilizing a common computing platform, ERP systems consolidate all business operations into a uniform and enterprise-wide system environment.

TRAITS OF A SOFTWARE TO BE CONSIDERED AN ERP SYSTEM Should be integrated and operate in real time. All applications should access one database to prevent redundant data and multiple data definitions. All modules should have the same look and feel. Users should be able to access any information in the system.

TECHNOLOGY USED Following are the technologies that will be used for the creation of ERP: 1. JAVA for designing the front end, that consists of web forms and will also be used for designing the Business logics for the company. 2. SQL SERVER 2008 for backend, that is the database of the company. 3. A centralized server to maintain and regularly update the database.

TRADE Trade is the voluntary, exchange of goods, services, or money. A mechanism that allows trade is called a market. The basic business flow structure of trading that we will consider here will be:  A central company that will carry out the trading activity  This company maintain an inventory where all the goods will be stored.  The company will deal with vendors from whom they will buy the goods, and it will deal with customers to whom they will sell the goods

TRADER’S ERP MODULES. Keeping in mind the business process, the trader’s ERP would have the following modules: 1.Sales/Marketing Module 2.Inventory Module 3.Purchase Module

INVENTORY (STORE) PURCHASESALES/MARKETING VENDORSCUSTOMER TRADER’S ERP

PURCHASE MODULE This module deals with the process where the company carrying out the trade will purchase the goods from a vendor. Through this module:  The company can have a record of the purchase orders, receipts.  A record of quotations/prices given by the different vendors/suppliers.  The company can keep a track of the quantity of goods ordered.  The module can carry out procurement processing, inspection of goods, vendor payment.  Reports can also be generated in this module, regarding the status of the indents raised by the inventory module.

INVENTORY MODULE This module deals with the Store house of the company, where the goods are stored after being purchased by the vendor, and is kept for further sale. Through this module: After purchasing and inspection, the goods are sent to the inventory or the store house. The company can keep a regular track of the quantity of goods, so that they are never out of stock. A regular requisition can be done in order to be updated about how much goods are present, or how much is needed. The company can also get to view the purchase history. Current status of the inventory can be displayed.

SALES/MARKETING MODULE This module deals with the sale of the items/goods that have been brought into the inventory after purchasing it from the vendor. This module can help the company improve customer service and evaluate sales and marketing activities. Through this module:  The company can generate leads/customers.  It can place orders for purchasing.  Keep a track of each and every sale.  Generate automatic invoices.  View history of all the sales done.

FUTURE SCOPE Yet aren’t hopes of a single unified system essentially a pie-in-the-sky fantasy? “It’s real for some companies, where the ERP system can meet the vast majority of their requirements, and they’re not so big that they run into scalability issues,” he says. “So some companies can do it, but the vast majority of companies will never get there.” “So it is kind of a fantasy, but some companies have been able to do it. And I think if you can get at least your core applications, like HR and financials, onto a global single instance I think you have accomplished something."

THANK YOU
