St Benedict’s Catholic High School A specialist engineering college Incorporating West Cumbria Catholic Sixth Form Centre What do we mean by Level 2? A GCSE, or equivalent, qualification at grade C or above is considered a Level 2 qualification Students are considered to have achieved Level 2 if they have gained the equivalent of at least 5 grade Cs at GCSE Students that have gained at least 5 GCSE passes are considered to have achieved Level 1

AS and A levels are Level 3 qualifications Applied AS and A2 levels are Level 3 qualifications Vocational Level 3 courses lead to Level 3 qualifications

St Benedict’s Catholic High School A specialist engineering college Incorporating West Cumbria Catholic Sixth Form Centre Post 16 Pathways For those students entering the Sixth Form with mostly A*/A and B grades at GCSE the usual pathway would be to study 4 AS levels in year 12 Followed by at least 3 A2 levels in year 13 (Possibly including one Vocational Level 3 qualification)

St Benedict’s Catholic High School A specialist engineering college Incorporating West Cumbria Catholic Sixth Form Centre Post 16 Pathways For those students entering the Sixth Form with Level 2 achievement (5+ A*-C at GCSE) mostly at grade C the usual pathway would be to study Three Level 3 Vocational subjects (Possibly one vocational subject may be replaced by an AS/A2 course if GCSE grade in that subject indicates that it is suitable)
