Finished projects

Ongoing projects

Energy Efficiency project Streetlight-EPC (April 2014 to March IEE)  Phasing out of 80% of light bulbs from the market in Europe by 2017 (EC Regulation 245/2009): need for refurbishment (LED technology)  Street lighting has high energy savings potential of average 50% with average 9-year return on investments period  Opportunity to create knowledge and trust in EPC (as easier than building application) as innovative financing model for the refurbishments  Project will set-up regional EPC facilitation services in the 9 partner regions, for both municipalities and (potential) ESCOs  Project will implement 36 LED street lighting EPC projects in partner regions  Project will induce 18 SMEs to becoming ESCOs across partner regions Tools created during the project for your use:  Webinars, EPC facilitation guidelines, EPC quick-check list, FAQs,…

Energy Efficiency project ECCC – European Citizens Climate Cup (September 2010 to August IEE)  competition of 8,400 households within and between countries to achieve the highest energy savings.  campaign cooperates with media, utilities, municipalities, tenant, owner, consumer associations, property managers, housing companies, real estate portals, producers and wholesalers.  households use a web tool for their energy management: collects and assesses data of meter readings and energy bills.  Households receive s and newsletters. Lessons learned  Online monitoring tools show the impact of the measures taken in real-time and help householders to save energy by direct feedback.  Communication activities including lotteries with gifted energy devices are needed to convince householders to register and stay interested during the whole the campaign (1 year) - as entering their consumption data takes time.  Social media are effective in involving citizens

Energy Efficiency / Renewable Energy project SERVE Sustainable Energy for the Rural Village Environment (Nov to October 2012 – CONCERTO prog.)  Improve the energy efficiency of 500 existing buildings of North Tipperary region through insulation and heating control measures  Develop an eco-village with 132 houses in Cloughjordan which showcases energy efficient design and is supplied by Ireland’s 1 st renewable energy district heating system  Support the installation of renewable energy heating systems and demonstrating the use of electricity from micro wind.  monitor the technical performance and socio-economic impacts in the region  set new standards for energy performance and renewable energy supply in rural Ireland. Tools created during the project for your use:  Case Studies focusing on the technical and socio-economic aspects of EE & RES in the rural context of the Ireland region

Renewable energy project Bio-Methane Regions (April 2011 to April 2014 – IEE)  promote anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading technology for grid injection and vehicle usage of the resulting biomethane  analyse the reasons for take-off in some countries and the barriers to development of the market  Use this information to develop a strategy and action in each partner region [South-East Sweden]. Tools created during the project for your use:  Bio-methane Calculator for pre-feasibility studies regarding new bio-methane facilities, modelling several key process technologies.  Biogas Calculator which generates some of the input data needed for the Bio-methane Calculator.  Country specific reports [Sweden] on: technologies, barriers, regional strategy (Sydost), etc.

Renewable energy project COOPENERGY (April 2013 to March 2016 – IEE)  Identify best practices of multi-level governance (cooperation between regional and local authorities) in sustainable energy planning (EE and RES) for more coherence and efficiency  Signing local Multi-Level Governance agreements to officialise the partnerships at the political level  Developing or updating the regional energy action plan, taking into account the local needs  Implementing and evaluating concrete joint actions to demonstrate effectiveness of the approach Tools created during the project for your use:  Examples of Memorandum of Understanding documents (1-2 p.)  Online database of MLG best practices (2 pages Pdf)  Online MLG Guidebook
