NCER Social/Behavioral Research Portfolio ( ) IES funded social/behavioral research under the following research programs: –Social and Character Development Multi-Program Evaluation (SACD) –Teacher Quality

Purpose of the Social and Behavioral Context for Academic Learning (Soc/Beh) Research Program This program is intended to support research on interventions designed to improve social skills and behaviors that support academic and other important school related outcomes in typically developing students from kindergarten through high school.

Social and Behavioral Context for Academic Learning (Soc/Beh) Research Grants First 5 awards were made in 2008 Four new awards were made in Session 1 (June 2008 grant competition) Pending awards for 2009-Session 2 (October 2008 grant competition)

Annual Reports Existing Grants: Due June 30, 2009 and each June 30 th thereafter New Grants: –November 2009 –March 2010 No Cost Extensions: If you have requested a no-cost extension, you must complete an annual report which is due on June 30, 2009.

Section A – Project Objectives Ignore “Performance Measure” Counts Use the yearly objectives laid out in your performance agreement as the project objectives to report on.

Section A – Project Objectives Describe status of all steps taken toward completion of your projects. Include details of what was done and how it was done. Describe what was completed. Describe any findings to date.

Section A – Project Objectives Please describe any work planned, but not undertaken. Attach any relevant project reports completed during the year, as well as related presentations and/or publications.

Section B – Budget Information Provide an explanation if you did not expend funds at expected rate during the reporting period. Describe any significant changes to your budget resulting from modification of project activities. Describe any changes to your budget that affected your ability to achieve your objectives.

Section C – Additional Information Any changes you plan to make for next year that are consistent with scope and objectives. Anticipated changes to key personnel. Attach curriculum vitae for proposed personnel. Describe any unanticipated outcomes or benefits from your project. Attach updated IRB information here.

Final Reports Due 90 days after the end of your grant award Just like the annual report, summarizing entire project Must answer the final questions (1, 2, 3)

Final Report Question 1 Utilizing your evaluation results, draw conclusions about the success of the project and its impact. Describe any unanticipated outcomes or benefits from your project and any barriers you may have encountered.

Final Report Question 2 What would you recommend as advice to other educators that are interested in your project? How did your original ideas change as a result of conducting this project?

Final Report Question 3 If applicable, describe your plans for continuing the project (sustainability; capacity building) and/or disseminating the project results.
