Optics Program Objective The objective of the Optics Manufacturing Technician Career Path Program is to implement a structured career training program for Optics Fabricators within the Finger Lakes region. The program is designed to Provide a fundamental understanding of optics materials and metrology Improve the fabrication and technical skills of operators. 9AART June 6,2008

Training Scope Optics Fabricators produce precision lenses and other optical elements using both traditional manual methods and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment. Major functions include: Blocking, Generating/Shaping, Beveling, Grinding, Polishing, Centering, Coating, Assembly, and Inspection. This program will take participants from basic fabricating processes to more intermediate and advanced fabrication and testing processes. AART June 6,200810

Training Methods On-Job-Training (OJT) – The employer conducts this training, usually under the guidance of an experienced optician Related Instruction – Teaches the theory and knowledge required to understand the principles covered during the OJT. AART June 6,200811
