Laser DCS meeting, Utrecht, 13 June 2005Børge Svane Nielsen, NBI2 Status of software at NBI Laser controls and steering: Program written for Linux/C++ (see talk by G. Renault). Comment: beam tracker needs continuous loop and real-time user interface. Cameras: Very likely to change strategy from USB Webcam to digital video + frame grabber. Synchronisation and multiplexing of cameras by STAR developed board. Mirror controls: Still based on NewFocus system with driver: LabVIEW or DLL. Comment: ’camera’ and ’mirror’ programs need to be tightly connected and have common real-time user interface: automatic beam steering and/or manual steering
Laser DCS meeting, Utrecht, 13 June 2005Børge Svane Nielsen, NBI3 STAR synchronisation board Functions: Synchronise 2 lasers to LHC clock / BCO (40 MHz divided down on board to ~10 Hz) Synchronize any number of cameras to same clock Multiplex any of 32 cameras to 1 (or 2) frame grabbers Delivers up to 8 TTL output signals for external equipment (mirror flippers, shutters etc) Communication: 11 bit I/O -- ’driver’ exists for PC parallel port
