When a soccer coach tells you, “To win a game, you’ve got to give 110%.” What did the coach mean? How do you know when a percent is greaterthan 100% or less than 1%? In a fraction, when the numerator is bigger than thedenominator the percent is greater than 100%. In a fraction, when the numerator is smaller than thedenominator the percent is between 1% and 100%. When you are not sure, rewrite the fractions ordecimals as percents, if the percent is a decimal thepercent is less than 1%.
Examples: Classify each fraction or decimal as: (A) Less than 1%, (B) greater than 100%, or (C) between 1% and 100%. 240 = = 100 = = 1 = = 4 Use, = to compare the numbers in each pair. 9% _______ ________ 130% Write each fraction or decimal as a percent. 70 = _____________ = __________ Write the percent as a decimal. 2000% = ____________ 8% = ______________
