Welcome to the Media Center We are here to help you succeed. Remember that we can sometimes make your life easier.

Media Center Policies  We are open from 7:30-3:45 every school day, and are available later upon request.  You may check out three books at a time for up to two weeks, and you may renew the books if no one else requests them.  You are not fined for overdue books, but if you lose a book, you will be placed on the debt list.

Media Center Policies  You cannot purchase items from the school store during class time.  You must have a pass from your teacher to come to the Media Center during class or during lunch.  Print-outs and copies are 10 cents a page, unless they are part of a class assignment.

Using the Internet at School  Do not play Internet games at school.  Do not go to any sites with bad language or pictures.  and messaging are not allowed at school. Therefore, sites like Hotmail, Yahoo, MySpace, and Bebo are blocked.  Using sites that get around the sonic wall is a violation of the rules. Don’t do it.

Good Sites to Use in the Media Center  is for research. The password is “nib”.  is for career research. You will need the username (screvenchs) and the password (gcis552).  is good for practicing for the graduation test and EOCT. You can get help on creating an account here in the media center.

What’s in the Media Center besides computers?  Books: You can ask for our help finding them.  Fiction books are shelved alphabetically and located on the left and back wall.  Non-fiction is located on the middle shelves. Biographies are the last rack of non-fiction.  Reference books are located on the right wall.  We also have a story collection and children’s books.

What else?  Magazines: Our magazine shelf is behind the computers, and we keep outdated magazines in our storage room.  Newspapers: We subscribe to the Statesboro Herald and the weekly Sylvania Telephone. We also have a stack of old newspapers that you can use for school assignments.

AND?  The letter cutter next to the front door is where you can create letters for class presentations.  You can also use the tables for studying and doing homework.  The school store has school supplies such as jump drives, pens, pencils, highlighters, badge protectors, notebooks and much more.
