Wind Power By Camille, Desirae, Eena, Jasmine, and Madelaine

What Is Wind Power ? ~Wind power is a source of solar energy. ~Wind is renewable source that can be used over and over again. ~Wind power is generated by wind turbines.

What Are Wind Turbines ? ~Wind turbines are basically giant fans, but they don't cool us off. ~Wind turbines convert kinetic energy form wind into mechanical energy. ~The mechanical energy is used to produce energy.

How Do Wind Turbines Work ? ~Wind turbines are like fans, but they do the opposite, instead of using energy to power wind, (like a fan) wind is used to power energy. ~The wind will turn the fan blades, which spins a shaft, which generates energy.

Wind Farms In Canada ~There are over 130 wind farms in Canada alone. ~Meaning lots of energy is produced pollution free. ~If Canada consists of over 130 wind farms, there are over thousands of wind turbines all across Canada. ~Most wind turbines are located in Canada. ~In Manitoba there are only about three wind farms.

Reliability Wind turbines can be really reliable because : ~Wind turbines rarely break down ~After being installed, wind turbines can provide around 20 years of pollution free energy for homes, buildings, etc.. BUT, at times they can't be reliable because : ~If wind isn't strong enough, the turbines wont generate any energy ~It all depends on the weather

Positive Things About Wind Turbines ~Wind turbines can generate pollution free energy. ~Not much space is used to have wind turbines around. ~Wind turbines can produce kilawats per year. ~Wind turbines are renewable, they can be re-built at any time(not literally)

Negative Things About Wind Turbines ~If the wind isn't blowing hard enough, not much energy will be produced or generated. ~Sometimes wind turbines can kill flying animals. ~Wind farms are sometimes shut down because of major storms ~Wind turbines are very loud and irrating ~They can cause very bad headahaces ~WIND TURBINE SYNDROME IS POSSIBLE.
