Defining Sexual Violence Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape.

Framework Multicultural Change Intervention Matrix Individual Organizational Institutional

Sexual Misconduct Prevention Establish on our institutional website We want it similar to Holy Cross’s website found here: procedures/sapolicy procedures/sapolicy Re-evaluate the mission statement of the institution

Changing the Paradigm RSO’s review mission statements Sign a contract during opening weekend activities Severe consequences for individuals found in violation provide education sessions on alcohol and drug use's relationship to sexual assault cases

Changing Myths to Facts Incorporate a mandatory speaker at opening weekend activities. Here is a good one we found: All faculty and staff contractual agreements incorporate a required 1 to 2 hour online class on sexual misconduct

Educating the Campus Community Bystander intervention education Latane and Darley- importance of training Banyard, Plante, and Moynihan- Go beyond the individual Bystanders have the ability to intervene Program features Changing the perception of sexual violence Encouraging knowledge of risky behavior Analyzing the bystander effect Workshops going through scenarios Establishing atmosphere where students know they are capable to take the lead in the situation

Accommodating needs of Survivors Campus will provide support for survivors Provide service for any time of the day, so survivors feel more in control of the situation Trained counselors, business hours and after-hours Protocol in place where first responder contacts the counseling center. Office should be an available space to the victims of sexual violence Establish a support group for victims of sexual violence

Ensuring the Rights of the Accused If the event is serious enough, let the student body know there is an investigation ongoing, but still keeping names unknown Names of the accused shall remain confidential during the entire process If necessary after the case Present the name (does the public need to know?) Careful choose which outlets shall be used to release names (credible news sources)
