11 Birthdays Fiction published: 2009 Sara Herfurth

This story takes place in the quiet and uneventful, present day town of Willow Falls. Willow Falls is very small. The only people who know about it are those who live there. Both Amanda and Leo have average sized houses in suburban neighborhoods.

Amanda- shy, quiet and apprehensive fifth grader who often hides who she really is. Amanda has light brown hair with green eyes. She is fairly short and skinny. Leo- he is an adventurous, zealous, and rambunctious fifth grader who is always getting himself and others into trouble. He has long brown hair and brown eyes.

Amanda and Leo’s 11 th birthday is repeating over and over again, and they don’t know why. If they don’t fix things soon then they will continue to change and grow while everyone else stays the same, causing suspicion.

Amanda and Leo follow the instructions of Angelina, the woman who put them under a curse, and celebrate their parties together. Finally, their birthday ended and the next day came.

My Opinion My opinion I loved this book! In fact, it is my favorite. It is an adorable story that can teach you a thing or two about friendships. It’s very heartwarming.

Wendy Mass The first book that she wrote was called A Mango Shaped Space. She was born in Livingston,New Jersey. When she was younger, her nickname was Harriet the spy. She was an English major at Tufts University. Wendy’s book Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, was made into a movie that is premiering later this year.

?Questions? If you were Amanda, what would you do if your birthday kept repeating and tomorrow never came? Do you think that Amanda should have acted the way she did towards Leo on their 10 th birthday? Explain. What could Amanda have done on the first day of her 11 th birthday to prevent it from repeating? Why do you think Angelina has lived so long? Twenty years from now, do you think Amanda and Leo will still be friends? Why or why not? Questions?

Summary Amanda and Leo have celebrated their birthdays together since the day they were born. Until their tenth birthday, when Leo made a huge mistake. They have not spoken since, and it is now their 11 th birthday. The only problem is that the day keeps repeating and they are the only ones that know it. They set aside their differences to solve this mystery and eventually find a way to make tomorrow come.
