SCSTI – PATLIB reorientation | 1 EPO PILOT PROJECT OF PATLIB REORIENTATION In June 2010, the SCSTI has been selected by the EPO as the pilot project participant from Slovakia Personal, spatial, technical and financial criteria have been considered (during and after the pilot project - sustainability) Work programme preparation as a part of the National Action Plan of the INDPROP Office of the SR Pilot project duration: 3 years (with possible extension up to 5 years) – from November 2010 Work programme evaluated in half year periods Funding 75 % financed by the EPO 25 % the SCSTI own resources

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER DEFINITION Complex process of transfer (application) of results, findings, inventions and knowledge gained by research activity into the economic and social praxis with aim of commercial valuation Generally, there are several steps to be followed 1.Assessment of commercial potential of invention/technology 2.IPR protection, usually in form of patent 3.Technology marketing / partner search (public/private sector, multinationals,...) 4.Commercialisation (licencing agreement, company creation – spin-off/start-up, selling the patent, etc.) Support of research activities in Slovakia/ Project co-financed by the EU resources

PLANNED ACTIVITIES IN AREA OF TT SUPPORT | 1 Participation on creation of national system for technology transfer support in the SR, close co-operation with universities and Slovak Academy of Sciences Promotion of Slovak R&D organisations, incl. their competencies and achieved results in the SR and abroad, awareness raising on IP and technology transfer Evaluation of the science and technology organisations in area of research, development and technology transfer Support of science community in the process of IPR protection and technology transfer Marketing of research results and searching partners for their commercialisation Support in negotiating and signing the licensing agreements Support of research activities in Slovakia/ Project co-financed by the EU resources
