 In 2005, a group of former Polaroid employees formed a company called Zink  Zink stands for “zero ink”  They transformed Konica Minolta paper factory into a production of paper that is embedded with heat-activated dyes

Zink Paper  Zink paper is an advanced paper with yellow, magenta and blue dye crystals  The crystals are embedded inside the paper  A protective polymer layer of overcoat on the outside

Zink Photo Paper  Zink has claimed that they can manufacture paper at a cheaper cost than regular paper and ink

How it prints?  A photographic paper scrolls past a print head  Tiny resistors aligned in a row each heat up to specific temperatures  Transferring yellow, magenta, and blue dye onto the paper  Together the crystals colorize  End result is 2-inch by 3-inch print
