S80 Laser Distance Sensors

S80 Highlights 2 models with measurement ranges up to 4000mm and 7000mm Scalable range for the long distance model (7000mm) Retro-reflective models up to 20m and 100m 2 NPN or PNP switching outputs and a 4 – 20mA analog output RS485 serial interface for complete remote control and for measurement transmission with 12-bit resolution IP67 metallic compact housing and a standard M12 8-pole connection

Distance Sensor Technology Optical triangulation Time-of-flight measurement Medium and far distances (1~100m) Wide range 3. Constant resolution throughout the entire range Near distances (<1m) 2. Limited range 3. Resolution variable with the distance up to µm

Time of Flight Technology Based upon the principle of radar: A laser diode emits short but strong pulses with a pause of several µs. The pulses reach the target, come back, and are received by an avalanche photodiode (APD), through a separate optic.

Time-of-Flight Technology The time-of-flight (TOF) difference between the transmission and the reception of the same pulse is directly measured and converted into a distance value. Emitted signal Distance: D = (TOF)0.5C D = distance TOF = time of flight C = light speed in the medium involved Received signal
