We have quite high traffic in Krylatskoe. Nearby our school is Moscow-river which divides Moscow on two parts proceeds. Near the church there is a spring with curative water. Many people go there to potable water. There is the sleeping area therefore in Krylatskoe and it is is a lot of houses here. In our sleeping area there are no large factories and plants. We have only sports constructions: a bicycle line, the channel for rowing, stadium for skating. The ecology of our area is polluted only by people who come here to have a rest and leave dust Unfortunately, here is constructed the high- speed highway which will do a lot of noise and will pollute our air.

 There are 62,1 thousand people live in our area  9,2 thousand - children to 16 years old  10,2 thousand – the retired people.  The district is served by 6 hospitals,  There is 1 social service center,  17 schools, including 6 private and 3 libraries.

Dialog with our government. Our workshops: Expertise The youth participating in the district life The quality of the youth life

20–th of December the conference of the youth and the local government We had a chance to speak about different youth problems. It was interesting for us because we could talk to our local government and could be sure that they heard us. And also they could tell us what do they think about our problems and what is the best way to solve them

The expertise questionnaire The problems in our district Low level of interest of participating teenagers in district activities Low level of information – we have no enough information in time We don’t have teen’s clubs, sport clubs and cultural center for youth

The quality of life We have no enough cultural centers for Youth We have unsafe, sometimes dangerous places in our district to walk We have a lot of sport complexes but the price is very high

The participation of youth in developing of our district.

I find problems of youth: important – 69%

The youth opinion must be heard by the local government when the next programs will be created: 1)Creation of modern education and professional abilities – 65,5% 2)The district equipped with modern conveniences – 64% Developing of youth employment– 61% 4)Developing of leisure time – 60% 5)Employment and work arrangement – 60%

-Our local government here in Toronto is simple. There are 6 political parties: NDP, Conservatives, Liberals and the Green Party.. There were recent elections, and Liberals won. Dalton McGuinty is the premier of Ontario. - Education in Ontario is very important. The Ontario government provides resources that can help you make informed choices throughout your entire educational career. - Ontario is a magnet for industry, the arts and science. The population is made up of many cultural backgrounds drawn to this vibrant province. Ontario government is lowering class sizes in the primary grades Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3. That.s because Students in smaller classes get more attention, do better and are more likely to succeed in high school and beyond. Canada

What I like about here in Toronto, is that the government tries to involve youth in the politics too, they want us to know what is going on, in fact they gave us a right to vote. Also, on one day there was an assembly at our schools and each member of the political party was giving us a speech on what he wants to achieve and why and how will it help us all. Also in my opinion, every second high school student is doing something to be involved in helping the government. Each student has to work 40 hours with no payments in order to graduate. They can work in the church, library, etc. I think that’s a lot of help the youth is giving to the government. I like to see that the government, trying to improve the education to maximum, in Ontario, so more people can graduate and have a bright future. There is also one thing that government is asking. In Ontario there is huge amounts of garbage producing, therefore to avoid that the government focused on recycling for a while. In 2006, if I am not mistaken, every house in Thornhill, received a green food bin, and a manual of what to put in. Green bin was designed to recycle organic products, therefore it will have plenty of composts and way more less garbage. We try to obey those simple and easy rules and thus we do our best, to be involved in helping the government.

Slovenia Our local council is made up of nine members; a mayor, 3 regional councilors and 5 local councilors. The mayor is the head of the city and the regional councilors represent Vaughan (our city) at local and regional levels of the government. The five local councilors are chosen from five districts and they represent those districts on the Vaughan Council.

2. The many activities available for students include (but are not limited to): team sports, individual sports, skating, bowling, clubs, organized events (dances) etc. Volunteer work is available and it is also very useful for the students because it is a chance to gain volunteer hours which are needed in order to graduate. If students find something wrong and they need to complain they could call or write a letter or . They could also form a petition and get the maximum number of signatures on the petition. Teenagers could form a petition and if they meet the requirements (get the right number of signatures) the government might consider their idea. 3. Students can write many articles and publish suggestions for the government. If students choose to start a petition they can encourage people to sign it by advertising. 3. Rumania What do you know about the activities made for young people in your district (town)? We took part in sport activities (like basket-ball and soccer) and singing activities. Our city offers plenty of possibilities. What do you think is important for young people on the territory they live and study? We think that the activities are the most important because any activity you take part in is also, more or less, a competition and a place for communication. Do you think that in your district are enough activities for young people ? Yes, but there could be more… What do you think there must be organized for young people in your district ? Some more entertainment would be perfect. What do you usually do in your free time ? Go in for sports Read books

What is bothering you most of all in your district ? The transport. Imagine that a new student come to your school. What places in your district you don’t advice him/her to visit or to be careful there ? Why ? Our city is not a very dangerous one but we do have a few cases of attacks. We would advice him to stay home in the night or to avoid the dark, quiet areas.

Novosibirsk, Russia Students think that they should have more activities – 15% Competitions 23% Places for communication 23% For 37% asked Youth problem of safety, drugs, territory of life was main. 19% of youth said, that they have possibilities to take active part their district life 28% of asked youth, said that local government should discuss with the young people the perspectives of the district. There is Youth organization “Molodaya Gvardia” in our village. It was organized in We are 16- pupils of our school and students of Syktyvkar institutes. The head of our organization is Yulia Konyarova. We organize different cultural events in our village and in our school. In June (the Youth Day) we prepared a big action “We are for healthy style of life”. It had a great success. For the Victory Day we organized a big concert for our veterans. We sang old songs about war, danced, showed short plays. The audience was very happy because nowadays we seldom can hear these songs which remind them their youth. Another big action was “KVN” between the teams from different villages of our district. We won!! Ilya Visheratin from our grade was the best. (by Alexandra Mingelaite and Dasha Nakonechnaya)
