VIP-204 Programming

The summary page allows you to see a brief description of important information currently programmed into the VIP unit.

“Name”

The MAC Number is a unique hardware ID for each unit. The Mac Number can also be found on a label on the unit.

“Device Type”

How may channels the device has.

And the firmware version that the unit left the factory with and what it is currently.

The “Properties” tab allows you to enter a unique name for the device.

The “Log Level” is used to determine the complexity of the Syslog information that the unit will send. Level “1” is used for typical call accounting.

Enter the time zone the unit is located in so that the unit can automatically adjust offset from GMT.

VIP units can use DHCP but a Static IP Address is preferred.

Next enter the Subnet Mask for the LAN on which the devise resides.

Enter the IP address of the Gateway connecting the LAN to other networks

Enter the IP address of the Preferred and Alternate Domain Name Servers for the subnet.

Enter the IP address of the Time Server that the unit will use to synchronize it’s internal time.

The Send Beacon option will allow the box to send a packet every 10 seconds which has important information for use in trouble shooting and system monitoring.

VIP devices can automatically send Syslog data to a Syslog server.

Enter the Dial Code which will be used to access the unit or channel.

Auto Destination is the Dial Code of another unit or channel to which the input of this channel is automatically mapped.

Enter the CID Name and Number as they should appear on a Caller ID display.

Currently the VIP units only support the G.711 Codec. This Codec supports 8Khz of bandwidth.

If you have an Auto Destination set up and the called party does not answer or is busy you can forward the call to another party.

Enter the number of rings before you forward the call.

You can set gain or attenuation for the audio input of each channel.

You can also set gain or attenuation for the audio output of each channel.

VOX activation can be used to on an audio input to initiate a call. If this box is not checked you can use the programmable input to initiate the call.

Input Function is used to activate the contact closure input.

A dry contact closure can be used to initiate a call on any channel.

Activate On determines if the input activates on normally open or normally closed.

Use “Relay Function” to determine how you would like the relay to act.

You can associate a relay to follow any audio input, audio output or DTMF during a call.

Any audio output can be part of any or all audio groups.

Enter the Phone Number as registered in the SIP Proxy Server.

Enter the Authentication Name as registered to the SIP Proxy Server.

Enter the Secret or Password if required by the SIP Proxy Server.

Enter the Caller ID Name and Number that should be displayed for this device during a SIP call.

Enter the IP address of the SIP Proxy Server. Select the Register box to automatically register with this Proxy.

Enter the network port the unit should use to communicate with the SIP Proxy.

Enter the network port the unit should use to communicate with other SIP end-points.

Enter the network port the unit should use to send and receive audio.

Select Communications/Update Changed Devices to set the information to the VIP unit.

The Legend shows you the current status of each device on your network.

The VIP unit is now programmed and ready for service.
