MY SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT By Courtney Wright

Big Question Big Question-Does letting cookie dough sit in the fridge make it cook better? I am wondering this because I think it would helpful when making cookies.

HYPOTHESIS Hypothesis –letting the dough sit in the fridge without letting it sit out will make it cook better. I think this because then it will be cold so they will cook better.

Research Research-my research shows putting the dough in the fridge makes it cook better.

Ingredients Mixing bowl Measuring cups and spoons Eggs Vanilla Butter Brown sugar Sugar Salt Baking powder Flour Chocolate chips Cookie sheet Oven Refrigerator An adult

The first step is to make the cookie dough The first step is to make the cookie dough. Then you need to put all of the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then for one batch you will need to let it sit out for 25 minutes. Bake the batch that came straight from the refrigerator first while the other batch sits out. Then bake the other batch while the other cookies cool down. When you pull the cookies out check for fluffiness and which one raised the best. I predict that putting the dough in the refrigerator without letting it sit out will make it cook better.

Observations In this experiment I observed that the cookies that came straight from the fridge were still very doughy but ones that sat out for 25 minutes looked more cooked. As the picture shows here. Sample A sat out , sample B did not sit out.

Data Data-The cookie dough that sat out for 25 minutes cooked better and faster than the batch of cookie dough that was immediately baked. The second batch appeared fluffier at first but over time flattened out and looked exactly like the other batch.

Analyze Data Analyze Data- The reason that the cookie dough that sat out for 25 minutes cooked better was because it was closer to room temperature when it was baked. It did not take as long to cook because it was not as cold. The cookies were not fluffier, they were exactly the same.

Conclusion Conclusion-This experiment kind of tested my hypothesis. I learned that my hypothesis was incorrect. The colder the cookie dough the longer it takes to bake. I thought the colder cookie dough would cook faster and better and make the cookies fluffier. The batch of cookie dough that sat out and the batch of cookie dough that was cooked right away were the same as far as the fluffiness of the cookie.
