Chicken & Vegetable Stir Fry With Noodles June 2015

Learning Intentions Today you are : Developing your understanding of how the human body needs certain nutrients to give us energy and to keep us healthy. Developing the skills needed to prepare and cook a Chicken & Vegetable Stir Fry.

Equipment needed for stir fry All the equipment needed for making this dish is already on your table and hob. 1 Non stick pan 1 Heat proof plastic spoon 2 Brown chopping boards 1 Yellow chopping board 2 Vegetable knives 1 Small bowl for scraps 1 Vegetable peeler 1 Plate 1 Pot for noodles 1 Sieve/ colander 2 Pot stands Fork

You will work in pairs to prepare and cook the stir fry. On the tray are all the ingredients needed for the stir fry. This quantity is for 2 pupils. ¼ onion ¼ carrot ¼ red pepper 4/5 mange tout ½ cooked chicken breast 15ml oil 30ml stir fry sauce 2.5ml 5 spice powder 1 sheet noodles

How to make your Stir fry 1.Fill the pot with water (half full) and place at the back of the hob. Bring to the boil slowly by turning the Gas to medium or the electric to Prepare vegetables -chop onion - pepper cut into sticks -peel carrot and cut into sticks. - Mange tout cut into sticks 3. Dice the cooked chicken on the chopping board.

4.Add the noodles to the boiling water for 3-4 minutes. 5.Heat the oil in the pan, add the vegetables and stir fry for 2-3 minutes. 6.Add the cooked chicken, sauce and 5 spice powder. Fill the small clear plastic container with water and add. Stir well and cook for a further 2- 3 minutes. 7. Drain the noodles using a sieve. 8. Place noodles in your foil container. 9. Divide the stir fry between the 2 containers. 10. Switch off your cooker. Eat and enjoy!

Food Poisoning Your delicious Stir Fry is now ready to eat. However you are about to leave this class and may not be able to eat it for a few hours. It is the chicken in this dish which could lead to food poisoning if it is not stored correctly. So if you can eat your stir fry within an hour of leaving this classroom you will be safe. If it will be a few hours then you should put your name on it and leave it in the fridge....picking it up before you leave today.
