Presentation transcript:

Stegosaurus: by Bradley Hutson The name ‘Stegosaurus’ comes from the Greek words ‘stegos’ meaning roof and ‘sauros’ meaning lizard.

The Stegosaurus is a Herbivore. It eats plants.

“Cool facts about the Stegosaurus” The Stegosaurus is “Cool” because it has ‘Spikes’ on its back and because the spikes act as a form of air conditioning.

The Stegosaurus can be in different colors, although we are pretty sure they didn’t come in Red, White and Blue!!!

The Stegosaurus was alive in the late Jurassic Period (around 150 million years ago).

What about the size of the Stegoaurus What about the size of the Stegoaurus? They were large and heavy, kind of like a ‘Tank!” They could grow up to 30 feet in length and 14 feet tall. They could weigh up to five tons! As large as they were though the size of their brain was only around the size of a dog’s. Really!!! This stegosaurus stands 9.5 feet tall, is 18.3 feet long and has more than 300 bones. Researchers are not sure whether it is a male or a female, but it had reached young adulthood. (Photo credit: © Natural History Museum, London.)

One last cool fact about the Stegosaurus, the state of Colorado lists its as its state dinosaur. The End
