REVERSE TRANSFER ……..AN APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY INITIATIVE

WHAT IS REVERSE TRANSFER? Student completes diploma or degree requirements at the community college after matriculating to Appalachian

WHY? Lessens Time to Degree Cost Savings Minimizes Duplication Transfer Friendly Increased Degree Completion

HOW DOES IT WORK? 11 or less hrs from completing diploma or degree (identified at orientation or after final transcript) Student signs contract OTA sends contract and verification form to CC contact CC specifies courses needed for requirements Student registers for courses during 1 st semester Student sends ASU transcript back to CC Student applies to graduate and request final transcript ASU posts “Gen Ed” met upon receipt of final transcript

REVERSE TRANSFER STATE INITIATIVE Community College Partners AB Tech, Cape Fear, CPCC, Coastal Carolina, Durham Tech, Fayetteville Tech, Forsyth and Gaston UNIVERSITY PARTNERS Appalachian, East Carolina, Fayetteville State, NC State, UNCC, UNCG, Western, and UNCW Credit When It’s Due: Recognizing the Value of Quality Associate Degrees Purpose Statement The proposed project will enable NCCCS to reach its goal of doubling the number of postsecondary credential completers by 2020 and will make the transition from two-year to four-year institutions more seamless. $450,000 Lumina Foundation “Credit When It’s Due will enable North Carolina to develop and implement a comprehensive technological solution to support a reverse transfer process. Following the two-year pilot period, the solution will be scaled up – achieving an automated reverse transfer articulation process that benefits students across the state.” Dr. Suzanne Ortega Senior VP Academic Affairs, UNC-GA
