Introduction to Project Based Math Math and Science Partnership Onslow County Schools

Your Subtopics Go Here Individually, list the first five words or phrases that come to mind when you hear that something is “Project-based”. Compare & Contrast with the folks seated around you to develop a consensus. Right, Wrong, It Depends???

Project Based Learning What is it? Project-based education is an instructional approach that seeks to contextualize language learning by involving learners in projects, rather than in isolated activities targeting specific skills So, why PBL?

Project Based Math Grant Requirements: School implement PBL instruction Model in school Participation of all teachers in grades 3-5 or 6-8 in PLC Planning time (at least twice a month during the day) dedicated to PBL Allow external evaluator (EMEC) to observe teachers and collect data

Benefits: PBM will serve as an umbrella for other initiatives such as INCOME, TRACC and STEM Attributes Rubric implementation. Support of coach in your school at least two days a month to assist with instruction, planning and resource development. Quality Professional Development by Buck Institute and UNCW. Stipends for teachers to attend professional development. Funding for instructional materials and supplies. Access to data on program effectiveness.
