Revenge of the El ectric cars! Economic: Volatile Gasoline Prices Environmental: CO2 Emissions & Global Warming Political: Dependence on foreign oil.

Figure U.S ELECTRICITY GRID MIX

Economic Benefits 70% of all USA oil consumed is used for transportation. By 2050 there is an estimated 1.5 billion cars on the road globally compared to 750 million in Rising middle class in China and India causing demand in passenger cars to balloon and with it the demand for oil. Oil is limited resource and not renewable. EV typically charges at night, when electricity is cheapest to generate.

Environmental Benefits Critical element of reaching 80% reduction in global emissions. Over the lifetime of an EV the owner can save more than 6000 gallons of gasoline. Reduced operating costs – No gas/No oil/No belts/No hoses 108 mpg equivalency rating 3¢ per mile to operate

Political Benefits According to the USA Information Administration, over 80% of cost of a gallon of gas immediately leaves the local economy. EV’s reduces a countries dependence on foreign oil. “Vehicle to grid”- Future technology allows vehicle to feed electricity back in to the grid, and reverse charge system.

THE FUTURE IS HERE NOW The Tesla/Panasonic - GiGi Battery Company Cost of the battery is the primary factor behind PEVs high sticker price. 500,000 lithium Ion Battery Packs by 2020 Solar energy storage units jobs will be created 100 Billion Dollars in local environment benefits for Nevada.

Climate Change: How do we know?
