Presentation transcript:

BECAUSE LEARNING KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES

My philosophy is simple, every student must succeed and to achieve this success, students must have the knowledge and the ability to be informational literate. This includes having an understanding about information formatting, how to access information, how to determine accurate information, and the knowledge of what to do with this information. The next generation of graduates will be technologically advanced specialists, who will operate in a technologically advanced society, they must have the skills to flourish. PHILOSOPHY

 I will encourage students to do their best at all times.  I will keep clear goals in mind.  I will plan a variety of educational experiences.  I will inspire independent workers and critical thinkers.  I will advocate for literacy instruction.  I will provide students with skills to succeed. GOAL #1: I AM A TEACHER FIRST AND FOREMOST

 I work to build a professional association with fellow educators.  I will collaborate with the classroom teacher to ensure that information searches and curriculum content relate.  I will present subject matter in a “real world” learning environment. GOAL #2: I AM AN INSTRUCTIONAL PARTNER  I will model an appropriate working relationship with the classroom teacher.  I will convey the technology skills, and you can deliver the course content.

Today’s learners are inundated with information from multiple sources, including the media and Internet. GOAL #3: I AM AN INFORMATIONAL SPECIALIST  I will stay abreast of new technology and communication tools.  I will instruct students in the proper use of information.  I will teach students to respect the use of intellectual property.

I am a chef and the library is my kitchen. Come and feast upon the goodies I have prepared for you.  I will work to ensure that students and staff have access to current resources.  I will work to manage and utilize library staff/volunteers to meet the service needs of a busy learning center.  I will maintain a balanced library budget while acquiring a current collection of materials. GOAL #4: I AM A PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

GOAL #5: I AM A LEADER  I act as a leader to provide instructional support during professional development.  I will employ marketing skills to educate staff and administrators of my role and purpose in the educational field.  I will encourage collaboration between educators and the librarian.  I will share the latest technology with my peers.  I will act on behalf of all students to guarantee their success in the 21 st Century.
