2. The resurrection – what does it change? a. The sorrow of Mary – v Jesus is alive. He is with us - Jesus has gone before us – resurrection body b. The fear of the disciples – v Jesus gives them peace – v.19,21 - Jesus re-commissions them – v.21-23

3 great fears a. Fear of judgment b. Fear of death – John 11:25,26 c. Fear of opposition - Jesus has overcome our enemies – John 16:33 - Jesus has given us the Spirit – John 20:23

c. The doubts of Thomas – v Thomas refuses to believe. Jesus challenges him to:- - touch him –v.27 - believe For Thomas – “Seeing is believing” For us – “Believing is seeing”

Doubts can be overcome if:- a. They are honest doubts – e.g. Thomas b. You are prepared to investigate – Jer.29:13 c. You are prepared to believe

3. What should I do? There are different responses:- a. Ignore the resurrection b. Investigate c. Trust in Jesus d. Share the good news with others
