Plants without Seeds Presenter: Usman Saiyed Date: 4 th Oct 2010 Teacher: Sr. Lisa 1

There are simple plants in nature which don’t have seeds. For example Ferns, Algae, moss. Ferns reproduce by spores. Spores are special storage systems for reproduction which have all the genetic information. Next Fern life cycle 2 Types of Seedless Plants

Fern life cycle 3

BrownRed Algae Green Mosses Liverworts Hornworts Another plant without seed is Algae. Algae was the first type of plant on earth. Algae must live in or near water. sargassum 4 Algae

Algae are three types based on phylum They get names from the pigments found in there cells. 5 Types of Algae-Phylum

Life cycle of Algae: Algae reproduce by fragmentation and by spores. In the sea, which is such a stable environment. Algae attaches to rocks by a holdfast. Spores settle and grow into gametophyte. This makes anisogametes which form a zygote which grows into the sporophyte generation. The sporophyte and gametophyte generations look exactly alike.anisogamete 6 Life cycle of Algae

Red algae can grow up to be several feet long. But they can't grow up to brown algae. Red algae is even found in food! Found in types of food and clothing. Ice cream, dressing, chocolate milk, and frosting. 7 Red Algae

Found in tropics it needs sunlight to produce food. 8 Brown Algae

Green Algae Some may live in unusual places. 9 Green Algae

Pictures of Land plants without seeds 10 Pictures

They have vascular tissues. Unlike other seedless plants they do have special adaptation. -waxy covering -roots that enable water gathering. -system of tubes transport nutrients Ferns 11 Vascular Plant

Mosses, liverworts, and hornworts are tiny plants that live in moist places. Found on wet rocks, damp tree barks, muddy banks or streams. In some cases they might cover the ground like a fuzzy green carpet. 12
