TUMBLEBOOKCLOUD So, what can I do to find reading titles, with audio, for recalcitrant students in non-fiction, fiction, graphic novels and other genre? Username: uhsse Username: Password: login

You can use these reading categories in your class by printing out, downloading app or listening with an audiobook

If you feel a student is struggling with a reading or title and you have sought the help of the Special Education Teachers – you may be interested in knowing that Bookshare was created for students with such disabilities. Bookshare is the world’s largest library of digital books for readers with qualified print disabilities. There are textbooks, reference materials, fiction, non-fiction and newspapers available for them. Colleges and universities and many high schools upload their scanned textbooks and other academic books to Bookshare.

Other Bookshare Notes School Organization can only download books on behalf of a student. This download can be on their own device or library computer. Qualified students can also obtain their own individual memberships Students who qualify can also have their parents download information for them at home. There are readers wanted, so these audio texts can be constantly updated. Perhaps a service project for students?

TURNITIN.COM - Creating a rubric

What does Turnitin check? Content Comparison The Turnitin Web Crawler scans and indexes new and existing content from the Web in the Turnitin database. A student uploads a paper to Turnitin.com The paper is compared to millions of books/publications; over 24 billion web pages; and 300 million student papers. Results are returned in seconds, showing matches of the student paper to content from the Turnitin database.

So, what about textbooks and databases? When a paper is submitted to Turnitin, it is compared against three vast databases of content from three primary sources: The Current and Archived Web: Similar to Google and Bing, Turnitin has built a web crawler that crawls the Internet and indexes content into a searchable form. Turnitin currently contains over 24 billion web pages from the current web as well as archived web pages. Student Papers: Over 50 percent of plagiarism comes from other student’s work. Turnitin compares submitted papers to a database of over 300 million papers in the Turnitin paper database. Each day, the Turnitin student database grows by 190,000 papers. Content Partnerships: Turnitin has partnered with leading content publishers, including library databases, text-book publishers, digital reference collections, subscription-based publications, homework helper sites and books. These partnerships have contributed over 110 million additional articles to our databases.
