Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd Environmental Education & Training Activities A NETWORK OF INTEGRATE COMPETENCES

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd The PROJECT IDEA ► The “TRABOCCO” is a typical structure of the coastal area for fishing activities, characterized by a perfect integration with the environment. ► The “TRABORGO” mobile laboratory aims ideally at overcoming the gap between coastal and internal areas of the province.

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd ► The conceptual inspiration is the project of “LABORATORY for RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOOD” (by the architect Renzo Piano), a light cubical gazebo, divided in 4 thematic areas, for the sustainable recovery of districts and historical centres. In our project, this idea has been adjusted for environmental education purposes in small centres (less than inhabitans).

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd ► I NCREASE THE AWARENESS of local population towards environmental problems and study a model of sustainable development for the requalification of small historical centres (the concept of “borgo”); ► S PREAD GOOD PRACTICES, repeatable in identical and different districts, by means of mutual exchange actions among the areas involved during the project; ► P ROMOTE THE RESTORATION OF QUALITY OF LIFE conditions in the small municipalities of the territory; ► S UPPORT OPPORTUNITIES OF DEVELOPMENT AND NEW JOBS in internal areas through the recovery of local typical traditions and knowledges. Main OBJECTIVES

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd The laboratory is organized in 4 AREAS providing information and advice services in: 1.ENERGY; 2.WASTE; 3. WATER & BIODIVERSITY 4. “THE SHOP OF KNOWLEDGE”: conceived as a recovery space of the local identity (ancient arts, uses, works and practical knowledges) managed by citizens themselves. The REALIZATION

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd Moments of the Workshop “ENVIRONMENT OBJECTIVE”

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd ► N. 8 Municipalities involved in six months of activities (july-december 2006); ► Over questionnaires filled by end-users that expressed positive judgments on the event and a very good level of satisfaction about the quality and thoroughness of the information received. ► A mailing list made up of over contacts available for further awareness and training initiatives (seminars, workshop etc.); An Event for young and aged people Direct RESULTS

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd ► A NEW APPROACH: The Mobile Laboratory offers citizens a more direct and integrated approach to the environmental issues by the mean of a qualified team of experts that are able to answer directly their questions and doubts; ► FLEXIBILITY: This structure can be easily adapted for many other educational initiatives, exhibitions and dissemination events for several targets (students, households, technicians etc); ► CONTINUITY: The promotion of more "sustainable" culture and lifestyle assures coherence and continuity of "Traborgo" project with the other initiatives that the Province of Chieti is carring out. Points of STRENGHT

Sevilla 2007 – Session “Daily Sustainable Practice” – March 23rd  T he ideal space for environmental education is “out” of conference rooms and “inside” the ENVIRONMENT!  I nformation reach the citizens when the citizens can’t reach the information.  E xperts for everyone!…But EVERYONE can be an EXPERT (in the Shop of Knowledge) Something to TAKE HOME
