I LOVE MUSIC All young people like music. We can hear our favourite singers or bands and songs on TV, the radio and on the Internet. New types of music can become international because we can communicate very quickly, so you probably listen to the same music as kids in other countries.

FOLK MUSIC This is the name of every country traditional music. It is very old and it has its own music, dances and songs.

JAZZ MUSIC It was born at the beginning of the 20th century in New Orleans (USA). The main element of jazz is improvisation. Common jazz instruments are: the saxophone, the double-bass, the trumpet and the piano.

ROCK AND ROLL It was born in the USA in the '40s (the fourties). It was a social phenomenon. It influenced society, language and fashion. The King of Rock and Roll was Elvis Presley

ROCK MUSIC It has many forms and a very strong beat. It uses vocals, guitars and bass.

BRITISH BEAT It is the famous music of the '60s. The songs are simple and the music is easy to sing. The most famous group in the world that represents this kind of music are The Beatles.

BRIT POP It's a type of British music very popular in the '90s. It is a mix of rock and punk music and the influence of British Beat.
