Type 1 vs. Type 2 Type 1 (Juvenile): Pancreas stops making insulin – diabetics must get it from an outside source Not contagious – can’t catch it like a cold Can’t get it from eating too much sugar Doctors still working to find out the cause Type 2: Pancreas still makes insulin – isn’t enough, body can’t use it correctly There are many different causes of Type 2 diabetes Sometimes, Type 2 can be prevented through exercise and healthy eating
