The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest non-profit funder of blood cancer research. To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Our mission…

Our Vision…

Where the funds go… The Wisconsin Chapter is committed to supporting Wisconsin patients from their blood cancer diagnosis, through treatment, and beyond. The funds raised through our organization are invested in research, patient aid, and co-pay assistance. Invested in Research Invest more than $875 million in research to advance therapies and save lives. Support basic, translational and clinical research. Fund academic investigators, medical centers and research-based companies. Collaborate with universities, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Invested in Patient Financial Aid LLS provided direct financial aid to 30,603 patients in Invested in Co-Pay Assistance In 2012 LLS’s co-pay assistance program provided more than $44.2 million helping almost 14,000 patients.

Introduction to the Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour

Scenic Shore Bike Tour 2-day fully supported 150-mile bike ride One of Wisconsin's most popular bike rides and the largest locally organized and supported event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. July 20-21, 2013 Day 1: Riders pedal 75-miles north from Mequon to Manitowoc then spend the night in Manitowoc Day 2: Riders begin the final 75- mile stretch toward Door County ending in Sturgeon Bay

FACTS… The first Scenic Shore 150 ride was in 1993; 150 riders raised approximately $30,000. Founding committee members include Chris Kegel from Wheel & Sprocket and Bill Pence from Grafton Ski & Cyclery. Scenic Shore 150 was voted “Favorite Charity Ride” at the 2010 Feddy Awards presented by Wheel & Sprocket and the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin! This year commemorates 21 years of cyclists riding in the Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour to raise funds to fight blood cancer!

In 2012 we had… 1,108Riders And we raised… $860, Volunteers To support our mission to cure blood cancers.

Currently, this year we have… 1,300Riders And we’ve raised… $377, Volunteers To support our mission to cure blood cancers.

Our VISION for 2013… One Thousand Riders Raise One Million Dollars 1,000 riders x $1,000 each = $1 million This year to celebrate the 21 st Anniversary of Scenic Shore 150 we are encouraging all riders to raise at least $1,000. If every rider raises $1,000, we will collectively raise one million dollars. One million dollars to fight blood cancer. One million dollars to make patients’ lives easier. One million dollars to help kids like 5 year-old Matthew, last year’s honored patient hero who was diagnosed with T-cell leukemia, live to fulfill their dreams of becoming cowboys. One million dollars to stop blood cancer from taking another life.

New for 2013!

New Layout at MATC Mequon: We have reconfigured our layout at MATC Mequon for this year. Our new arrangement will allow for more controlled traffic flow and parking. Our tented areas will now be set up in the West Annex Lot with overflow parking and luggage drop off in the West Lot where we’ve been set up in years past. No transportation to/from Appleton or Madison: It is no longer cost effective to offer this as an option. We will however, still transport riders back to Manitowoc on day two. One-day Option for BOTH days!: The one-day option is back, but we are now offering it for both days of the ride. Please note that we will not offer transportation back to Mequon at the end of day one. Cheer Teams: This year, we plan to have designated cheer teams throughout the route. We’re inspired by all of our riders and want to show them our support by greeting them with smiles, and lots of cheer!

Over 200 dedicated volunteers provide support and encouragement to our riders during the Scenic Shore 150 weekend. Volunteers also play a major role in planning our ride. 10x10 for 10 Program Each team that raises over $10,000 or having at least 10 Scenic Shore 150 volunteers will have the opportunity (if you choose) to have a private 10x10 tent on Saturday evening. By raising $10,000 as a team or recruiting 10 volunteers, you are guaranteed to have a place out of the sun to relax, socialize, and enjoy dinner. The 10x10 For 10 program also includes a personalized team sign to let everyone know about your team accomplishment ! Teams can also earn other incentives such as wait service, a personalized cooler filled with beverages, special snacks, a personal team massage therapist and more!

Mobile Command Center Procedures

1. Follow the Rules of the Road: You are sharing the road with several riders and motorists. Be conscious of your position on the road, and make sure to use hand signals, pictured at the left, when necessary. 2. Ride Single File: Riding single file and staying as close to the right side of the road as possible gives motorists and other riders the opportunity to safely pass. Call out “car back” when a car is approaching from behind to inform riders already not doing so to ride single file 3. Passing: Make sure to alert other riders when you intend to pass. Yell, “On your left,” or “Passing,” to let them know you are coming. That way they can slow down and allow you to safely pass. ***DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT!*** Bike Courtesy 4. Rest Breaks: If you need to take a rest break, make sure to get completely off of the road so other riders can continue to ride safely. 5. Bike Safety : For your own safety, please wear your helmet at all times while riding. Helmets are mandatory to ride in the Scenic Shore 150. We will pull you off the course if you do not have one.
