How do the pillars of character relate to the World of Work and Your 5 th Grade Job at BCES?

Real Life Working World You successfully perform a job. You show good character. You get paid. The Working World at BCES You successfully perform a job. You show good character. You get paid with Positive Paws.

o Address your Supervisor in a professional manner o Cooperate and respect your fellow co-workers o Use patience with the students that you are working with

Punctuality is Key Part of being responsible is making sure that you are at your job on time each working day. If you know that you are going to be absent on a day you are scheduled to work, make sure that you tell your supervisor ahead of time.

o Students are responsible for showing up to work when they are supposed to. It is not the supervisor’s responsibility to come find you. o Students who have not shown up for their jobs have been “fired” and replaced by responsible workers.

You will earn one positive paw each time you successfully complete your job. More importantly, you will experience the great feeling associated with being a team player. You will not work alone. You will have co-workers and a supervisor … just like in the real working world.

"It's not how smart you are that matters, what really counts is how you are smart."
