Calhoun County Rural Water By Steve Klaas MAY 17, 2013 GEOG 424: VECTOR BASED GIS DR SHUNFU HU, SIUE

 Geometric Network Created To Model Water Distribution System Network for Calhoun County Rural Water (CCRW)  Personal Geodatabase, feature dataset, feature classes, domains, subtypes, Geometric Network, and Utility Network Analyst all used to create network  Smart Utility Network allows parts to be disabled in order to determine effects on the rest of the system, such as a boil order for a broken water line Introduction

Calhoun County, Illinois is the peninsula shown to the right of the arrow, between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers Data Sets

Digital Orthophoto Mosaic from USDA NCRS Geospatial Portal Only the central portion of Calhoun County was included for this project Data Sets

Contains all GIS Data Used in Project including Feature Classes within WaterDS Feature Dataset Methodology

Coded Values Used To Provide Legal Values for Each Field Type to Maintain Data Integrity Methodology

Contains all Features Classes Used In Building Geometric Network: Water Lines, Customers, Valves, And Water Source Methodology

Each Feature Class Was Given Categorical Subtypes with Default Values for Certain Fields Methodology

Includes all features in WaterDS Feature Dataset. Geometric Network creation allowed further analysis to be performed through use of Utility Network Analyst Methodology

Features such as Customers, Water Lines, and Valves Digitized Using Digital Orthophotos as a Reference Methodology

Results Source Features

Residential Customer Subtype Represented as Circles Results Sink Features

Junction Features Results Three Sub Types of Valves 2 way, 3 way, 4 way

Results Edge Features Six Inch Subtype Shown In Blue Four Inch Subtype Shown In Green One Inch Subtype Shown In Red
