National Palace Museum announces partnership with Google Art Project
The National Palace Museum has announced a new partnership with Google to make part of its collection available online using Google’s Street View technology.
The partnership allows online users all over the world to virtually browse the museum without having to travel to Taiwan or pay for admission.
Using Street View, users can zoom in on the NPM’s art treasures, which are displayed in gigapixel resolution.
At present time, 18 pieces from the museum’s collection, including the Jadeite Cabbage and the Maogong Ding, can be viewed online.
The Google Art Project platform currently houses collections form 151 art museums around the world,
and has received nearly 20 million views since launching one year ago.
