The Great Exhibition. Housed in the Crystal Palace, which was designed and planned by Joseph Paxton.

Why? The reason for this magnificent building, and what lay inside it was to show off what Victorian Britain had to offer. What? The head of Britain invited lots of important and impressive people from all around the world to come to England and show off their countries achievements When? The huge building that The Great Exhibition was held in, was built in Hyde park, It took 9 months, this was surprising, as it covered 17 acres of land!!

Where? This grand building was housed in Hyde park, London. Other countries were given their own section of the Crystal Palace to show off what they could do.

There were many fascinating items, such as statues, furnishings and hard ware.

This was the part that represented the country of Belgium. It is a medieval hero. This represented Russia. They brought furnishings and home goods.

Tickets were sold in advance, and were sold out very quickly. The money went towards three collages and a museum. -T-The Royal Collage of Music -T-The Royal Collage of Art -T-The Imperial Collage of Art -T-The Science museum

After The Great Exhibition, the Crystal Palace was moved to Penge Common. It took longer, and cost twice as much as before! Then, an accidental fire burnt down the building!!

After the Crystal Palace was burnt down, a football team used the ground as a pitch, and was named after it.
