Mandate To systematically and continually evaluate the Universities teaching and students’ learning in relation to quality, efficiency and relevance. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 3

Objectives of DAQA  To ensure quality teaching at delivery points at all times. This is done through:  Student/lecturer evaluation.  Monitoring use of quality teaching forms. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 4

Purpose of sensitization  To inform students on activities of DAQA in which they are directly involved so as to improve the quality of teaching and learning.  To let students know the importance of quality teaching forms and how to use them effectively. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 6

Student/lecturer evaluation What is student / lecturer evaluation – it is a paper or electronic questionnaire, which requires a written or selected response (answers) to a series of questions in order to assess the teaching of a given course unit. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 7

Why student/lecturer evaluation  It helps the lecturers to improve on areas that have weaknesses which are identified during the evaluation  It helps the University to identify areas of improvement in teaching. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 9

Student lecturer evaluation Schedule Student /lecturer evaluation is done at all Schools/Faculties in two phases:  Mid semester evaluation.  End of semester evaluation. ISO 9001:2008 Certified 10

ISO 9001:2008 Certified 11 Procedure of filling the questionnaires Students pick a set of paper questionnaires from the School/ Faculty (depending on the number of units registered in that semester). Manual method: Each student fills the form and returns to the School/Faculty and is issued with an examination card.

ISO 9001:2008 Certified 12 Electronic method: A student is sent an invitation with a link to the questionnaire via . The student fills the questionnaire and submits it electronically (depending on the number of units registered in that semester). The student is issued an exam card against a list showing submission of response.

Parameters evaluated Four parameters are evaluated in the exercise: 1. Course requirement from questions 8-10, checking:  appropriateness of learning outcomes given at the beginning of the course  relevance of description of the course outline in relation to the unit  completion/ coverage of course syllabus by the lecturer ISO 9001:2008 Certified 13
