Responses to HW questions should: 1.use details from the text and explain those details. 2.use the key terms listed with the questions 3.use your own words and not the words of the textbook 4.answer all parts of the question if there is more than one part. Doing a good job on your HW will help you on your HW quizzes!

Example HW response Sample HW Question: What should a complete and fabulous HW response look like? Key terms to use in your answer: thorough, topic sentence, explain, own words (Obviously your HW questions will be based on your textbook reading…although this one is not)

My sample response A complete and fabulous HW response begins with a topic sentence that refers back to the question. I know that a thorough HW response explains what is written in the textbook in a detailed way. A complete response is also written in my own words, as I know that I learn the information better when I write it in a way I can understand and refer back to. A complete response is never one sentence and usually has several facts. I have used and explained the key terms Ms. Greenberg listed on my HW assignment in a thorough (complete and detailed) way because they all are important to answering the question. If I am doing Cornell notes I also use all the key terms and take time explaining key information in the reading.
