Headlines from 2015 support this statistic Nebraska could see 32,000 more jobs through 2017, UNL researchers say “Nebraska factories will continue to be hampered by limited supply of skilled workers.” - Omaha World-Herald Community colleges flourish as demand for specialized degrees grows - Omaha World-Herald CPI coordinating adult night classes with CCC 13 adults will earn diversified manufacturing technology certificate - Grand Island Independent Skilled workforce barriers combated by college program opportunities - Lincoln Business Journal

By the numbers… ■ 321,000 – job vacancies Nebraska will need to fill between now and 2018 ■ 207,000 – vacancies that will require postsecondary credentials ■ 236,000 – Nebraska adults who started, but never finished, a degree program (25% of adult population) Why it’s important for adults to complete a degree

■ Of Nebraskans 25 and older: – 24.8% have a high school diploma (including equivalency) – 25.2% have some college but no degree – 10.5% have an associate degree – 22% have a bachelor’s degree – 9.5% have a graduate or professional degree Adult Learner Degree Attainment in Nebraska This 25% could help fill the need for skilled workers in Nebraska if they finished their degree

■ Of the 20,000 post 9/11 military veterans living in Nebraska, only 3,700 used the Post 9/11 GI Bill to attend college in FY2011 Military veterans can also help fill the need. Source: National Center for Veterans Analysis & Statistics Adult Learner Degree Attainment in Nebraska
