Presentation transcript:

Karen Schroll, Westat Dr. Bonnie Jones, OSEP July 21,

 To provide OSEP with information needed to assess the effectiveness of the resources expended to train special education personnel  In particular, the data inform five GPRA/PART measures 2

 Percentage of scholars exiting programs that are knowledgeable and skilled  Percentage of scholars exiting programs prior to completion due to poor academic performance  Percentage of scholars employed in the field for which they were trained upon program completion  Percentage of scholars exiting programs who are employed in the field for which they were trained and fully qualified under IDEA  Percentage of funds expended on scholars completing programs during the grant period 3

 OSEP collects data annually on scholars who are enrolled in grant-supported training.  Grantees enter scholar-level data for each scholars supported on the grant.  The report provides a full profile of scholars as they enter, progress through, and exit grant-supported training programs. 4

 Scholar characteristics (e.g., gender, age)  Scholar training and employment prior to entry in grant-supported training  Current training information (e.g., degree pursuing, training area)  Employment during training  Scholar status at exit from grant-supported training  Employment information at exit from grant- supported training 5

 Piloted in FY2000  Data collected for FY2001 through FY2007  FY2008 data collection will begin in late October or early November 6

 Data are collected online.  Grantees receive a user ID and password. These are sent separately via .  They have 60 days to enter data.  The website includes the following reports:  Summary of data entered for each scholar;  Summary of key items for each scholar on grant.  Data from FY2001 through FY2006 are posted on the homepage.
