External Reporting Feature

External Reporting Feature Original Release: October 2009  Allows basic tables and graphs of buildings within an account  Defined set of base reports  Accessed from the My Portfolio page  Filter based on location, building type, group, time period  Export results in xls, pdf, csv, xml

External Reporting Feature Phase 2 Release: December 2010  Custom Reports  Select “Custom Reports Home” from the “Generate Reports” dropdown menu  Design a report with an unlimited number of metrics (water, energy, emissions, etc)  Edit/Change elements  Share report with colleagues They can edit a copy without changing the report in your account  Report will appear in “Generate Reports” dropdown menu

External Reporting Feature Phase 2 Release: December 2010  Data Requests  Send a custom report as a data request  Template language provided from Portfolio Manager Send instructions and link to respondents Link automatically puts report into Portfolio Manager account  Respondents can “Release” data to you View data prior to releasing Select “Release” Receive copy of data submission Can re-release if they need to make a correction  Means to get specific information from other accounts without sharing e.g. could be used by a local government for mandatory disclosure

Data Center

 New rating for data center  Rating is for spaces specifically designed and equipped for high density computing (server racks, data storage silos, etc)  Typically facilities with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)  Usually have dedicated cooling systems  May include: traditional enterpriser services, on-demand enterprise services, high performance computing, internet facilities, hosting facilities  Applicable for free standing data centers  Applicable for larger buildings with data centers  Is not for  Computer training classrooms  Closet with LAN server

Data Center  Data Source:  EPA Data Collection with Industry  Dependent Variable:  Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)  Independent Variable:  Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Source Energy

Data Center What is PUE?  How is PUE computed?  Power Usage Effectiveness = Total Energy/IT Energy  What does PUE describe?  Measure of infrastructure efficiency  Captures how much cooling and support energy is required for the IT equipment  Does not capture IT equipment efficiency  Why use PUE?  Best available whole building measure at this time  How is a rating computed?  Express ratio (Total Energy/IT Energy) as an ENERGY STAR 1- to-100 rating  Each point on rating scale equals 1 percentile of performance

Data Center How to measure PUE?  Total Energy  Simple – from utility bills  IT Energy  More complex – wide variety of equipment and metering configurations  Meters closer to the servers (e.g. measure the line going into each server), closest to pure IT load  Meters further from servers include loses in power supply, transformers, etc.  Industry experts with sophisticated operations would prefer the closest measure possible  ENERGY STAR needs to select the measure that is most commonly available (easiest) to maintain broad applicability  EPA will measure IT at the UPS Output

Non-IT load is sub-metered. UPS Meter includes non-IT load of greater than 10%. Non-IT load is not sub-metered. Facility has no UPS meter IT Energy is not metered – Apply Estimates

Data Center Summary Facts  Data Centers now eligible to earn the ENERGY STAR  Rating and label are for a whole building  A building with a data center should earn a single rating  It is not necessary for a building to sub-meter a data center to earn a rating  Rating is based on PUE  Power Usage Effectiveness  Total Source Energy/IT Source Energy  IT energy measured at the UPS Output  Some buildings will have to install new IT energy meters  These buildings will be allowed to use estimated values until meters fully installed  Estimates only permitted for up to two years (June 2012)

Office and Retail  Minor model adjustments based on additional analysis of CBECS and Portfolio Manager  Used to ensure appropriate ratings for buildings with higher values for certain characteristics  Larger office buildings  Offices with high PC Density (PCs per 1,000 ft 2 )  Retail Stores with high cash register density (registers per 1,000 ft 2 )  Part of EPA’s continuous analysis to improve ratings  Overall small changes  Score changes will be less than 2 points on average

Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities  Meter Functionality to Enter Monthly Flow  Applies to Average Influent Flow in Wastewater Treatment Plants Total Average Flow in Water Treatment & Distribution Utilities  Water meter functionality will be similar to energy meter functionality  Will appear with space attributes  Each facility can only have 1 flow meter  New Standard View  Performance: Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities Current Rating Average Flow (MGD) Current Weather-Normalized Source Energy per Flow (kBtu/gpd) National Average Source EUI (kBtu/gpd) Current Site Electric Use (kWh) Annual Energy Cost ($) Current Total GHG Emissions (MtCO 2 e)

Additional Changes  Parking Garage  Correction to a minor defect identified in the calculation methodology for open parking lots  Default Values  Portfolio Manager will display values for default attributes Currently just indicates “default used” Starting in June will show the actual value for that facility and attribute  Other-Distribution Center  Distribution Center will be removed from the list of Other space types  This space is covered under Unrefrigerated Warehouse  All buildings currently classified as Other-Distribution Center will be reclassified into Unrefrigerated Warehouse A rating will be computed with default values

Upcoming Minor Enhancements/Announcements  Architects  Registered Architects (RA) are now permitted to stamp/sign an SEP for the ENERGY STAR  Increasingly greater role for RAs from design through building occupancy  RAs undergo specialized training and certification  RAs are subject to ethical guidelines in use of their stamp/seal  Refer to new guidance document  Label Application & Site Visit  Critical component of label review process  Physical inspection must be completed  PE/RA may elect to send a representative to perform site inspection  PE/RA is still responsible for stamping/certifying building conditions  Refer to new guidance document

Upcoming Minor Enhancements/Announcements  Terminology Change  Preference for the term ENERGY STAR Score  A building receives a score on EPA’s ENERGY STAR energy performance scale  Terminology change for brand consistency Only qualified products are called ENERGY STAR Rated Any building can earn an ENERGY STAR score  Gradually changing guidance and terminology  Begin to introduce this language into trainings  Look for official guidance document from EPA (coming)

Upcoming Minor Enhancements/Announcements  Office Occupancy (review)  More than 50% average occupancy required for Offices in order to earn the ENERGY STAR label  If a building averages more than 10% vacancy for the 12-month period of assessment, the user is required to enter the vacant space separately in Portfolio Manager (PM)  If occupancy changes over time, square footage can be reallocated between the vacant and occupied spaces using the “Update” function  If any previously entered data is not consistent with the occupancy rules, use the “Correct” function
