What is an OUNet Account? Information Technology provides all students with a user account on OUNet.
To access your OUNet account, you will need to know your OUNet ID or username (often referred to as your "4 by 4 or 4+4"). Your OUNet ID is made up of the first 4 letters of your last name (lowercase) + the last 4 digits of your 9-digit OU student ID number. So, for example, if your last name is Sooner and your 9-digit OU ID number is , then your OUNetID is: soon6789. NOTE: If you have placed a Directory hold on your personal information so that it is not publicly available, you will also be assigned an OUNetID that is not based on your name or OU ID number. What is my OUNet Password? Selecting your OUNet password When your OUNet account is first created, you are assigned a default password. The default password is based on the word “pass” and your birthday: "pass" plus 2 digits for the month and 2 digits for the day of your birth. So, if your birthday is on October 9, your default password is pass1009. Some services will not work with this default It is very important that you choose a new password as soon as possible. There are some essential computer services that are not accessible if you do not change the password from this default value; if you are using the default password (pass####), you will not be able to access these services.
How Do I Change My OUNet Password? Choose a password that is between 5 and 8 characters long. Your password can consist of only letters and numbers. When you are ready, open a web browser and go to

Your Official OU It is your responsibility to check your OU account for official OU notices and information. All communications from the university and faculty will be directed to this account by default. Note: some colleges have there own services. In these cases your OU can be forwarded to the college account.
Using Your OU Account Default Address Verses User Alias Creating an Alias Using the OUMail System Forwarding Your Mail
