Pablo Pedestrian Bridge 2011 Montana ACEC Awards

Project Details Pedestrian bridge crossing Highway 93, located in Pablo, MT on the Flathead Indian Reservation 265-foot span links the Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribe Complex and the Salish Kootenai College

Sustainable Design Features Wood deck is renewable and lightweight and it saved steel and money Native plants require minimal maintenance or water Safe access encourages non- motorized transportation

Unique Design Features Two landings at each end are enclosed in stylized tipi steel frame structures. Each tipi is over 60 feet tall and constructed from eight 12-inch diameter pipes to form a reciprocal frame. The two exposed tipi frames at each end symbolize the Salish and Kootenai tribes that co-exist on the CSKT reservation.
