My SCHOOL My VOICE HEALTH EDUCATION CHILD RIGHTS & PROTECTION

My SCHOOL My VOICE UNITED KINGDOM Where are we on the map? MOROCCO

My SCHOOL My VOICE INDIA CAMBODIA BANGLADESH NEPAL These are the other countries we work in TANZANIA

My SCHOOL My VOICE Childreach International currently do not have any projects set up in Morocco, but instead, money raised through the Atlas trek is put into other projects around the world. We currently work in Tanzania, Nepal, India, Cambodia and Bangladesh. Here are a few examples of how we’ve helped!! How we’ve helped: In 2010 we increased children’s access to: -40,694 (education) -23,330 (healthcare) -6,267 (rights/protection) -212 (skilled training) -Safety to 4,868 children

My SCHOOL My VOICE In Nepal in 2009, Dhulikhel Hospital, our partner project helped 23,300 children gain access to healthcare in the remote district!! How we’ve helped in.... Nepal! नमस्ते Namaste (hello!) MEET MY FRIEND POONAM! She is 9 years old and lives in Sermathang, Nepal and attends Yangrima School. She speaks Nepali and a little bit of English

My SCHOOL My VOICE MEET MY FRIEND JOSEPH! He is 12 years old and studies at Uwa Primary School. “My school used to be in a bad condition. The toilets were in bad shape, the classroom floors were broken and the kitchen was very basic, it was made of mud and timber. Childreach International has constructed a kitchen and toilets and renovated the classrooms so now I study in a good environment. When I grow up I want to be a doctor, as I want to save lives”. How we’ve helped in... Tanzania! Jambo!! (Hello in Swahili!)

My SCHOOL My VOICE MEET MY FRIEND LALJI! Lalji is 12 and has been a Balsena member for 4 years! “I joined because there are lots of new things that I can learn and it gave me the opportunity to join the Savings Bank. I am saving up for a bicycle; I know it will take some time! I’ve celebrated many festivals, such as the Kite Flying festival and Diwali. I’ve made lots of new friends and I would recommend that other children to join Balsena too!”. How we’ve helped in... India!

My SCHOOL My VOICE Meet my friend Fatima! She lives in a small Berber community in the Atlas Mountains Let’s have a look at how your everyday life compares to Fatima’s! Say ‘hello’ Azul! – (Berber) She speaks the Berber language, Arabic, and some French She is 10 years old

My SCHOOL My VOICE What does your street look like? Fatima’s village! Your street?

My SCHOOL My VOICE Favourite food! Fatima’s is: Tagine! A traditional Moroccan dish! Beans on toast? Curry? Salad? Vegetables?

My SCHOOL My VOICE A day in the life of Fatima! Wake up: 5.30am to help her mother with the domestic chores 7am: Make breakfast for herself and her 4 siblings Day time: Unfortunately, Fatima doesn’t go to school, as it is taught in Arabic; a language she doesn’t understand. She helps her mother with some of the farming on their land, and she often takes the goats for grazing in the mountain, with her brother. She also sometimes helps out at the local women’s cooperative, where her mother and other women from her village produce Argan Oil which is sold to visiting tourists. The money the make is shared between the local women!! Evenings: Fatima helps to prepare dinner, then sees her friends and goes to bed!

My SCHOOL My VOICE Works with children like Fatima, Poonam, Joseph and Lalji throughout the developing world to ensure that they unlock their full potential!

My SCHOOL My VOICE Any Questions?
