Biography Scrapbook Project

A SCRAPBOOK OF YOUR LIFE: A scrapbook is something that you keep to remember the most important memories in your life. You will be creating a scrapbook based on the person you will be reading about. There is a set rubric for this project. Please ask any questions you have over the three weeks you have to complete the project. Start early!

Materials You will receive two pieces of scrapbook paper that you will use to create 2 pages about your famous person. This is an at home project. You do not have to buy any special supplies, but you are encouraged to be creative. You may add stickers, cut outs, magazines, etc.

REQUIREMENTS Read a biography about a famous person. Make sure I approve your biography. Take notes on the Biography Book Report graphic organizer. I will collect your notes with your scrapbook pages. Create two pages from your famous person’s scrapbook using the checklist handed out in class.

Examples:

Due Date This is a two-part project that will result in both a written scrapbook and oral presentation. Finished Scrapbooks are due no later than Tuesday, February 4th. No scrapbooks will be accepted after this date but you may turn in projects early. Oral reports will take place the week of February 4th. Presentation rubric will be handed out at a later time.

What I MUST include on the scrapbook pages? Person’s Name, Date of Birth, Date of Death (if available) A diary entry 4 photos/Memories 3 Souvenirs

DIARY Create a diary entry from an important event in your person’s life told from the person’s point of view. Must be written from You should use the notes from your Biography Book Report graphic organizer. The event could be happy, sad, funny, whatever you like! Some examples may be: Birth of a child, marriage, loss of a loved one, or a day you received an award This can be put into an envelope and taped on a page. Must be 8 sentences in length

4 Photos / Memories 4 photos/Memories- Draw, color, and label at least four important memories from the person's life. Pictures can be drawn, from the internet or cut out of magazines. Each photo needs a caption. (layout is your choice, see examples.)

3 SOUVENIRS Draw, create, collect or find three things that the person would have put into their scrapbook. These objects must be important to the main character and fit into the scrapbook. Neatness and creativity is important.

Extra Credit Slide Options Commemorative Stamp Music Secret Box

Commemorative Stamp Draw and color a postage stamp representing your person. The person's name should be clearly visible. The stamp should be at least 5 X 7 inches.

MUSIC- You will need to research what type of music your character listened to and what current song best describes your character. If you cannot find the type of music they listened to, then research the popular music during that time period along with a famous composer.

SECRET BOX This is a secret that your person would have kept from the rest of the world. It does not need to be an actual object that was hidden. It can be an obstacle or difficult challenge that your person's had to overcome. It could also be something that they are afraid or ashamed for others to find out. Write a description of the secret and WHY that could have been a deep secret of your person. Must be at least 5 sentences with a creative illustration.
