EGSE CENTRIC PLAN FOR TWO TOWER TESTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MEETING HELD 02 MAR 2005 REVISED 22 MAR 2005

MEETING HELD 02-MAR-2005 ATTENDEES –SYSTEM ENGINEERING REPRESENTATIVE P. HASCALL –ELX REPRENTATIVE M. HUFFER –MECH SYS REPRESETATIVE M. NORDBY –I&T REPRESENTATIVES E. Bloom K. Fouts B. Grist E. do Couto G. Godfrey L. Wai R. Claus B. Horwitz

TEST AS YOU FLY ALL CABLES INSIDE LAT TO BE FLIGHT LENGTH AND MATERIALS –USE OF FLIGHT CABLES TBD BY DEL. SCHED. –INSTALL PER FLIGHT ROUTING WITHOUT CABLE TRAYS CABLES PASSING OUT OF LAT WILL GO THROUGH FLIGHT INTERFACE AT LAT SHIELD –LAT SHIELD WILL BE SIMULATED BY METAL PANELS, ATTACHED LIKE FLIGHT PANELS (or as close as we can) –CABLES WILL ROUTE ALONG GPR, TO A CABLE WRAP AT DRIVE SHAFT/SUPPORT –CABLES OUTSIDE LAT WILL BE LONGER THAN FLIGHT, MAYBE SIMILAR IN LENGTH TO ANOTHER TEST CASE

DESIRED FEATURES INSTALL INTO AN ODD AND AN EVEN BAY –M. HUFFER HAS TILL 8 MAR TO REQUEST THIS –OTHERWISE, INSTALL INTO BAY 0,4 IAW PLAN (676) TEST EQUIPMENT LOCATED ON TEST STAND –THERE ARE OPEN SPACES IN STAND –SPACES WILL BE FILLED WITH STAND ELECTRONICS If these electronics are not installed, then test EGSE can be located there Access to motor shafts would be blocked by test EGSE

WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE I&T HAS THE FOLLOWING –THREE LAT PS (AGILENT 6032) –CABLES 2103, 2 ea. GIVEN TO ELX 2105, 2 ea. (not required now) 2106, 2 ea. (max length, may not be correct for our bays) GIVEN TO ELX 2095, 2 ea. (max length, may not be correct for our bays) GIVEN TO ELX 2104, 54” long (may not match the flight cable) 100 pin connectors for 2 more 2104 cables –I think they can be used for 2863 cables Connectors\backshells for 16 cable savers for 2095 (in case cables are flight) –In assembly Connectors\backshells for 16 cable savers for 2106 (in case cables are flight) –Conns. due 3/16, Backshells 4/7 BPU ALMOST COMPLETE IN ELX LAB –NEED IT’S SCHEMATIC AND THE LIST OF INPUTS AND OUTPUTS –KILL SWITCH IMPLENTATION IS VIA THE AGILENT POWER SUPPLY I&T to implement on rack and in RM 102

SHORTAGES / RESPONSIBILITY CABLES –2096, 2 ea. –BPU to LAT, 2 ea. –2105 / Dip Switch Panel –2882 –Test box to JL-39 –2863 –Test crate to JL-69 (sim. To 2104) UPS, 2 EA. ($80 EA. TO MOD. EXISTING UNITS, $2,000 EA. NEW) 30 A SERVICE, POWER CABLES 19” RACK, 2 EA. ($300 EA.) RACK MOUNTED VME CRATE, 2 EA. CONNECTOR MOUNTING PANELS GASU AND PDU MOUNTS CABLES WITHIN VSC TEST RACK ELX DONE I&T ELX SEE PG 9 ELX

MISC ITEMS FOR I&T TO PROVIDE CABLE FASTENING TO GPR –USE TIE DOWN POINTS THAT ARE FLIGHT APPROVED Is this a special order? –DETERMINE CABLE LENGTHS OUTSIDE LAT SHIELD Include cable wrap Contacted Steve Score today, will follow up. REMOTE CONTROL OF LAT PS (2) –WITH OUR MOVE INTO RM 102, THE PS MUST BE REMOTELY CONTROLLED Parts cost of $2,000 Purchased hardware. I think that basic controls will be done via command line. It would be better to have someone write some command scripts so we can control usage. CABLES WITHIN BPU/PS RACK –Need ELX schematic for BPU. Think just wires and lugs, not certain, have to check with Jim MacDonald. This should be provided as part of the BPU design (ICD).

EGSE MOUNTING / HARDWARE CONNECTOR MOUNTING PANELS – design and drawings done by Mechanical systems (ready now); fabrication and fit up is responsibility of I&T (Eliazar) GASU AND PDU MOUNTS– design and drawings done by Mechanical systems (ready now); fabrication and fit up is responsibility of I&T (Eliazar)

TEST RACK (EVENTUALLY VSC RACK) GASU TEST BOX (GTB) –PERMITS EXT / INT CLOCK SELECTION Provides input for external clock (clock is doubled ie: 44 MHz input for 22 MHz system operation) –PERMITS VOLTAGE MONITORING FOR GASU Provides connection for margining supply –PERMITS EXT TRIGGER SOURCES Should be able to route multiple sources via this capability –Muon Telescope –Pulse generator –HAS OTHER FEATURES WE MAY USE IN FUTURE –DOCUMENTATION TO BE DELIVERED BY GREGG THAYER Interface cabling to be furnished by Gregg and I POWER SUPPLY FOR GTB USE BK’s POWER SUPPLY FOR MARGINING USE BK’s CLOCK SOURCE FOR CLOCK MARGIN TESTS USE AGLNT –ONLY HAVE ONE, MUST ORDER MORE
