What does pollution do to the earth

Types of effects air pollution has on earth:  Health  Visibility  Property  Forests and wildlife  Water resources  Climate

Pollution has effects on the air because…….  People have to breath the air if it is harmful to them then it effects the way they breath  This causes coughing, burning eyes, and breathing problems.

Fatalities  In 1948, 20 people died and 6000 people became ill in Pennsylvania from air pollution.  In 1952, a dense smog filled the skies of London and killed 4000 people in five days.

Who is more sensitive to air pollution?  Elderly, young, and people that are already sick  Young children are at greater risk because their lungs are not fully grown.

Things you can do to keep themselves healthy…  Keep up with air quality reports. If air quality is not geed then stay inside or don’t be active outside. 

Air pollution can also affect visibility because……  Big gray and brown clouds of smoke in the air

Air pollution is also bad for buildings  It eats away at buildings and structures like monuments and statues  Pollution cracks them and makes them look dirty  Pollution in the rain can damage paint on houses  It is costly to rebuild and fix what pollution has messed up

Animals:  Animals are affected because:  They breath air just like humans do  They drink and eat where pollution is  Causes birth defects

Pollution affects water because  Oil spills  People dumping trash in water  Sewage  Chemicals from fertilizer  Pollution in the air can also effect water  Acid rain
