Kwun Tong Government Secondary School Project Learning Course How to write a project report   Lau Kwok Chi

Title indicate the research question but not the general study area It should be long enough to describe what the research was about but, at the same time, keep it as short as you can.

Abstract the purpose of your investigation A summary of what the project is all about the purpose of your investigation a brief description of the method you used a summary of the results a summary of any conclusions you reached.

Table of content It shows the overall structure of the report You have to work out the organization of the report before writing it out.

Introduction Why was it done ? Why is it important ? Background information : Any relevant research undertaken by others in the past

Method How information is collected : web, books, field study, interview, visit Survey design : questionnaire design, sampling methods

Method(scientific report)   l hypothesis and prediction l overall experimental design l how the variables are controlled in order to make the test fair l Describe the detailed steps of your experiment

Body of information l Organize the information in appropriate way   l  Organize the information in appropriate way l  Data in forms of table and graph l  Comprehend the information first and write in your own words

Body of information l Keep text concise and clear l   Illustrated with graphics (photos, drawings) as far as possible l   Remember the target audience of your report – your classmates and the general public

Analysis of information l   Goes a step further beyond information collection l  Analyze the information in response to the research questions of your project. l  Original ideas rather than copying of information are needed This is the most valuable part of your project !!!

Conclusion A conclusion is an answer to your research question You may also state the limitations of your research project and suggest further research here.

Results (scientific report)   Present data and observations in forms of tables, graphs, diagrams, or photographs

Discussion (Scientific report) a description of the trends/pattern shown by the data interpretation of the results with evidence a description of the limitations of your research suggestions for further research

Conclusion (Scientific report) A conclusion is an answer to your research question You should indicate if your hypothesis is supported or refuted by the results Sometimes no conclusion could be drawn from the results
