CLIL DIDACTIC UNIT MY BODY 4th GRADE Plevne Primary School

OBJECTIVES - To revise the parts of the body from previous years OBJECTIVES - To revise the parts of the body from previous years. - To identify bones, muscles and joints. - To distinguish the characteristics and functions of bones, muscles and joints.

CONTENT. Our body is made up of our head, torso and limbs CONTENT * Our body is made up of our head, torso and limbs. * We can move our body. * We need our muscles to move our bodiıes. * We also need other things to move: bones and joints. * We have got a locomotor system. * The locomotor system lets us move. * All the bones in our body make up the skeleton. This is our skeletal system * We have muscles around many of these bones.

TASKS The final task consists on describing how their body moves TASKS The final task consists on describing how their body moves. They are going to label the parts of the body we use to move in a poster. Then, they can act an easy play out in small groups to the rest of the class explaining how their body moves and the name of the parts they are moving.

ACTIVITIES Look at a picture and revise the vocabulary from previous years by writing the missing vowels. Watch a short slide show. (Bones, joints and muscles), without too many words. After that, we watch the video “ Body parts chant (This is ……………../ These are ……………..) and play the game ‘Labeling game’. Complete the sheet by labeling the joints in our body.

We now watch a show about “The locomotor system” and they read and listen to “The parts of the body”. Then, they complete the blank spaces. To finish, they watch the song “Superman Dance” and, following the instructions, they move. Their final task is, in small groups, to write a version of the “Superman Dance”. They have to use the parts of the body they have just learnt that didn’t appear on the video.
